As an associate in Holmes & Hills’ Legal 500 recommended Commercial Property Department and a member of the specialist Land and Development Division therein, George advises clients looking to refinance, acquire, or dispose of freehold commercial property interests, as well as in relation to acquiring, disposing of, sub-letting or renegotiating leases on leasehold commercial property interests. As a member of the firm’s specialist Land and Development Division, George supports colleagues in the provision of services to landowners and regional developers.
George is a member of Holmes & Hills’ Land and Development Division, which forms part of the firm’s larger Commercial Property Department. George acts for smaller development companies in development site acquisition and in supporting partners and more senior members of the Land and Development Division in advising clients on more complex matters. George and his Land and Development Division colleagues advise clients on the negotiation, drafting, re-negotiation, and exercise of complex development agreements, including overage, join-venture, promotion, consortium, and option agreements. George and his colleagues regularly advise landowner and developer clients on resolving complex title issues aimed at facilitating development and maximising land values.
George also has a particular interest in development finance, and works collaboratively with his clients and their lenders in order to secure funding to assist with the purchase and build costs of developments.

Where client’s projects require, particularly in respect of land and development matters, George will work closely with colleagues from Holmes & Hills’ Planning Law Department, which is recognised by the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners as one of the leading teams of expert planning law solicitors in the region. As well as when acting for developer clients, George is supported in meeting their full range of legal needs by working closely with the firm’s specialist Construction Division.
Often, George works in partnership with the Planning Law Department to advise landowners in connection with Development Consent Orders. George has collaborated closely with Michael Harman and Melanie Francis to advise clients in the local area who have been impacted by the A12 Widening Scheme.
George has acquired a wealth of experience in commercial property matters having previously worked for a large regional firm in the south of Essex for several years, within their specialist Commercial Property Team. George is based at Holmes & Hills Solicitors' regional Head Office - the A12 Commercial Hub - in Marks Tey, Colchester.
