Holmes & Hills annual Planning Law updates have taken place in Autumn for over a decade. It is expected that in 2023, these events will have record numbers of attendance from both Local Planning Authorities and private businesses in the planning and development industry.
Holmes & Hills specialist planning law solicitors have been hosting these well-attended events with audiences of up to 125 per seminar, reaching more than 400 delegates over the full series - making the seminar series the largest of its kind in the region.
Each year, Holmes & Hills’ Solicitors Planning Law Department aims to inform those from Local Planning Authorities and other property professionals in regard to the significant changes to planning practice, as well as recent, timely case law developments and the impact that these will have on the sector in which they work.
The topics covered vary each year, depending on what is most important and pressing from a Planning Law perspective for those working in the public and private sector as well as feedback from the previous year’s seminars.

This popular programme of events is the largest in the region for the planning, land, and property community, offering six in-person sessions in various locations across East Anglia. The seminars are split with some suitable for local authorities and others for property professionals in the private sector.

Holmes & Hills’ Planning Law updates are led by planning law solicitors and partners of the firm, Steven Hopkins and Michael Harman, supported by the broader Planning Law Department including senior solicitor Jo Lilliott, CPO and DCO specialist solicitor Catherine Hibbert, and trainee solicitors Issy Bainbridge and Millie Cook.
Also, in attendance at the events will be senior solicitor Tom McPhie and solicitor Ellie Hambling as well as specialist property solicitor Melanie Francis and paralegal Susana Silva Moreira of the firm's Compulsory Purchase and Development Consent Division. The Compulsory Purchase and Development Consent Division comprises Michael Harman, Catherine Hibbert, Melanie Francis, and Susana Silva Moreira as well as additional support provided by the department’s trainee solicitor.
