Employees from Holmes & Hills Solicitors 5 offices in Braintree, Coggeshall, Sudbury, Halstead & Tiptree have donated 105 advent calendars to the Braintree Area Food Bank.
The appeal started by two employees at Holmes & Hills who wanted to be able to provide children who may otherwise not receive an advent calendar, a chance to enjoy the simple pleasure of an advent calendar over the forthcoming festive season. This follows an earlier donation of 41kg of food from Holmes and Hills staff in August.
The Braintree Area Food Bank typically experiences a peak in demand throughout the winter period as many families face the choice of heating their home or providing a meal on the table. The food bank which has four centres (2 in Braintree, 1 in Halstead and 1 in Witham) provides food packages to individuals and families through donations by churches, schools businesses and the general public.
Katie Chan, an employee at Holmes & Hills Braintree office who was responsible for co-ordinating the advent calendar collection commented: “I’m incredibly proud of all the employees at Holmes & Hills who have kindly donated an advent calendar to the collection. We originally set out with the aim of donating 50 advent calendars so to have donated over twice that amount is an incredible achievement. If it puts a smile on a child’s face this Christmas then it was worth it.”
