David Dixey, Landlord & Tenant Law specialist at Holmes & Hills Solicitors was invited by the National Landlord Association (NLA) to talk about the Right to Rent rules and the S21 possession procedure at the Landlords Forum.
Organised by Tendring District Council and the NLA, the event held in July at the Princes Theatre in Clacton was to provide landlords in Essex with an update on the latest regulations and developments in the buy to let industry.
All residential landlords are now required to check if the tenant has the right to stay in the UK for the duration of the tenancy; failure to undertake these checks risks a penalty of £3,000.
To find out more, read these related articles by David Dixey: “New Rules Governing the Eviction of Tenants” and “Landlords’ obligations under ‘right to rent’ rules”.
David provides legal advice to landlords across Essex and Suffolk, assisting them with a wide range of contentious and non-contentious legal issues, including evicting tenants and recovering rent arrears.
