50 local business leaders gathered at The Mill Hotel in Sudbury this month to hear Tim Yeo MP for South Suffolk discuss a range of issues affecting businesses in Sudbury and the surrounding areas.
Organised three times a year by the team of commercial solicitors at Holmes & Hills Solicitors in Sudbury in partnership with the Commercial Team at Barclays, the Sudbury Business Lunch has become the leading networking event in Sudbury, attracting owners and directors of some of the area’s largest and most successful businesses. At the latest Sudbury Business Lunch held earlier this month the group was pleased to welcome Tim Yeo MP who kindly gave his time to update the group on local developments and take questions on issues affecting them and their businesses. Issues discussed included business rates, internet speeds and the delivery of broadband to the area, as well as the local road and rail links.
Questions were also raised regarding the amount of regulation and red tape businesses are required to comply with, in particular, concerns were raised over the legislation affecting those exporting outside of the UK with the owner of a large local manufacturing business arguing it was easier to do business with countries outside the EU rather than those within it.
Businesses represented at the networking event included manufacturing companies, accountants, property consultants, commercial bankers, solicitors, financial advisors and retail shops, all based in Sudbury or the surrounding areas.
