As a partner and head of Holmes & Hills’ Compulsory Purchase and Development Consent Division within the firm's well-regarded Planning Law Department, Michael is experienced in working with and advising local planning authorities, developers, planning and property professionals, landowners, property owners, and community interest groups, aimed at furthering and protecting their interest in land and property assets.

Whilst working in partnership with clients on strategic and contentious Planning Law matters, Michael has particular expertise in regard to Blight claims and Compulsory Purchase Orders and advises property and land owners, as well as business owners, affected by large-scale infrastructure projects.
Michael is considered a specialist blight claim and compulsory purchase order solicitor within the East Anglia region and is a member of the national Compulsory Purchase Association. Whilst based in East Anglia, Michael’s expertise means that he is advising land and property owners across the country in relation to large-scale infrastructure projects. Some of the projects Michael has recently advised clients in relation to are alluded to in the below case studies. but include urban regeneration, airport expansion (Heathrow and Luton), energy infrastructure (pylons and solar farms) and linear transportation schemes (roads and railways).
